Mike Harris Announces MOHLTC Approval + Funding for New Waterloo Hospice
Published on7 September, 2018
Elmira, Ontario—On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I was happy to confirm our commitment of up to $2M for Hospice of Waterloo Region's new Gies Family Centre at its ground-breaking this afternoon.
This funding will join commitments from the City of Waterloo and Region of Waterloo alongside generous contributions from private individuals.
Our government is committed to supporting high-quality palliative and end-of-life care for all Ontarians who need it. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is providing patients with more options and access to community-based palliative and end-of-life care.
This includes expanding access to hospice care closer to home. Therefore, I am pleased this commitment will help deliver 10 new hospice beds to the people of Waterloo Region.
